There’s a lot to be said and heard when it comes to East Atlanta artist Raury, and just in case you haven’t been paying attention, it’s time to start listening. At just 18, Raury has already managed to catch the ear of artists such as Erykah Badu, Lorde, and Kid Cudi, and cement an opening spot at Outkast’s September 27 show in Atlanta.
Has he got your attention now?
A combination of delicate guitar chords, punchy drums, compelling lyrics, and an indescribably captivating voice, Raury’s smooth alternative sound is one that cannot be missed.
First gaining notoriety with his “Anti-Tour”, where he would set up an impromptu performance outside of another artist’s concert while fans were leaving the venue (video below), Raury has already successfully established a fan base in his hometown of Atlanta, and he’s on a mission to make sure that you’re a fan of his too.
A self-proclaimed ‘Indigo Child’, Raury’s visionary music mirrors the life he’s chosen to live. His debut EP “Indigo Child” serves as an inspiration for Raury’s generation: a generation, he feels, that is destined to be greater than everything that came before it.
“With us [growing] up with the internet, as kids we learn so much so fast. We’re exposed to so many things to the point where we become more open-minded and naturally have tolerance for race, sex, gender… We aren’t limited to our cities around us. I think those walls of regionalism are about to change.”
It’s that mentality that allows an artist like Raury to be so damn good. He has a lot to say and he’s not afraid to share it: the most powerful weapon when it comes to song-writing.
We guarantee you: one listen and you’ll be hooked.
